-서론-
1. 연구의 필요성
한 자녀의 출산은 현재 유지하고 있는 가족의 상호작용 구조를 근본적으로 변화시킨다.
부부중심의 관계에서 부모-자녀관계로 변화하며, 첫 아이이면 부모로서 시간과 애정을 쏟아
야 하고, 가족 내에 다른 자녀가 있으면 그들과 함께 적응해야 한다. 이러한 가족 내의 변화
로 출산 후 여성은 아내, 주부, 어머니, 자신의 사회 생활 및 자아개념에 통합된 모든 역할
을 수행해야 하는 어려움에 있다.
대부분의 여성은 어머니가 되기 위한 준비가 별로 되어 있지 않은 상태에서 아기를 갖게
된 후에 어머니로서의 역할을 시작하게 되는데 어머니는 아기에 대해 알고 있는 것이 별로
없고 어떻게 행동해야 할지 모르고 있으며 어머니 역할을 수행하는데 필요한 기본적인 기술
들을 잘 알지 못하고 있다. 이러한 역할 적응과 수행은 산욕기에 일어나는 현상이므로 산모
는 어머니로서의 새로운 역할을 수행해야 하는 의무와 책임감 등으로 정서적 혼란을 겪게
되며, 육아의 책임을 분담할 사람이 없는 경우 어머니는 전적으로 아기를 돌볼 책임을 가지
게 되어 혼란과 좌절은 가중된다. 그래서 개인에 따라서는 역할에 대한 지각, 능력, 갈등 및
긴장의 차이 등으로 지나친 부담과 스트레스를 경험한다. 이러한 스트레스는 어머니 역할
혼란, 갈등 혹은 사회, 심리적 불균형의 반응을 초래한다.

This study was carried out to identify the relationships between hardiness and maternal role perception of mothers in the first 4∼8 weeks after delivery. Data was collected by use of questionnaires from February 9 to March 5, 1996. Questionnaires were distributed at the 4th to 8th week of primiparious and multiparous(not showing complications after delivery and women with spouse) in one general hospital and one local clinic in Kwangju city, Korea. The instruments used for data collection were The Health-Related Hardiness Scale and The Clinical Tool for Assessing Adaptation to Motherhood ANOVA, Pearson
correlation coefficient and t-test were used for data analysis.
The results obtained from this study were summarized as follows :
1. For the hardiness, the mean score was 173.68, and far the maternal role perception,
the mean score was 75.49.
2. There was no significant correlation between hardiness and maternal role
perception, but there was significant correlation between control and maternal role
perception (r=-.250, p<0.01)
3. Hardiness was predicted by education and marriage satisfaction, and maternal role
perception was predicted by income and feeding method.
